About the Role
Align Civil Engineering Consultants (Align) is seeking an adaptable and motivated individual to join our team as a Civil Engineering Technician. Ideally, this candidate has at least two years of experience in the construction and or engineering industries. This position will be based out of Align’s Terre Haute, Indiana office.
Duties of the Civil Engineering Technician include:
Construction inspection and observation for highway transportation projects, paving, earthwork, and sewers. Collect field measurements and calculations for tracking of contractor’s daily work reports. Document material testing of concrete, air, slump, yield, and cylinders. Read and interpret highway plans and specifications. Regularly communicate with contractors and report directly to job site. Daily use of personal vehicle may be required (paid mileage).
This individual can also expect to work as a Survey Crew member for boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and site design projects. The Survey Crew member will collect data using Trimble GPS and robotic total stations, take detailed field notes and sketches, research property records, perform survey calculations and serve as rodman for various survey tasks. Draft surveys using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or Carlson software. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must be able to work outdoors performing physical labor in all seasons and able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds minimum. During peak construction season, you may be expected to work 8–12-hour shifts. A valid driver's license is required and the individual must pass a drug screening. Occasional travel requiring overnight stay can be expected and will be required.
Associates Degree preferred but not required
